Solarshield is a reinforced Greenhouse film. The reinforced cover consists of thin strips of clear plastic, woven together to make a sheet, similar to a woven weed matting (but clear). This resultant sheet is then laminated with a thin layer of plastic on each side. In the case of a white cover, one of these layers is coloured white. The high strength and tear resistance comes from the strength of the woven inner scrim. Unlike extruded covers, the material can be sewn into fitted covers and have pockets and eyelets etc fitted.

Solarshield is usually welded into ‘made to measure’ covers for hothouse roofs.
